Raconteur Theatre Company was formed in 2022, comprising of professional Writers, Directors and Actors from across Norfolk and Suffolk alongside Company Directors, Richard Melchior and Annie Marler.

Annie Marler

Annie has been performing and directing for over twenty years, her first script , 'The Long Drop', received Arts Council England funding in 2021.

Richard Melchior

Richard has written and performed both in the UK and Europe. He is an experienced scriptwriter, performer, director and puppeteer.

Richard’s acting work includes The Ruffian on the Stair, The Dumb Waiter, Hamlet, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, Henry V, As You like it, Confusions, Private Lives, Breaking the Silence, Blithe Spirit, And Then There Were None, Dick Whittington, The Norman Conquests, Under Milkwood, Look Back in Anger, Misery, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, The Railway Children and Much Ado About Nothing. 

In 2004 he wrote and toured a one man show Nelson’s Last Orders. Richard has also performed his own stand-up material for Smoking Mic Comedy Club and SM Productions. 

Richard’s directing credits include The Caretaker, The Birthday Party, Confusions, A Murder is Announced, Look Back in Anger, Endgame, Kindly leave the stage, Queers monologues, Misery, Sketches from the Old Testament, Under Milkwood, The Importance of Being Earnest, Checkov Shorts, The Long Drop and Macbeth for Raconteur Theatre Company.

In 2012 Richard wrote and directed a Christmas play ‘Saint’s Nick’ which was performed by prisoners in Blundeston Prison. His other writing credits include stage adaptations of James and the Giant Peach, Dracula, The Time Machine, The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, The Wind in the Willows, Nineteen Eighty-Four, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. 

Original writing includes The Roach, 4 Adult Pantos, The Utterly Fabricated History of the World, The Witchfingerer, The Gospel According to Philip, Christmas Ghost Stories, Spirits of the Sea, Houdini: A Magician amongst the spirits, Multiple Foxtales Stories.

 Richard has performed at Latitude Festival, The Edinburgh Festival and For Little Stars Children’s Festival. He regularly delivers workshops in puppet making.

He has also published one of his original Foxtales Stories The Story of The Goblin and The Golden Goose.
